Carl J. Cusano, MBA
President & Principal Broker

Carl J. Cusano, MBA is the president and principal broker of Capital Business Advisors, Inc., a full-service business brokerage firm specializing in the confidential sale of privately-owned businesses. He has brokered the sale of numerous small and mid-sized businesses, in addition to performing countless business valuation and consulting projects.

Carl is the executive vice president and past president of the New York Association of Business Brokers (NYABB).

He is a longstanding member of the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA), where he earned the designation of Certified Business Intermediary (CBI). He is a member of the Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors (GCAR), and Commercial Industrial Real Estate Brokers, Inc. (CIREB). Carl has served as a member on the

Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce Small Business Council, and is a long time Rotarian.

Carl has been designated as an Industry Expert by the Business Brokerage Press. He is an often sought after resource in the business media, having written articles and quoted in publications such as CNN Money, the Business Review, and the Saratoga Business Journal.

Carl is active in the region’s business community and frequently lectures on business sales, mergers & acquisitions, and entrepreneurship. Carl has also served as an adjunct professor of Business at the College of Saint Rose and other area colleges.

Prior to founding Capital Business Advisors, Carl was an associate with a New England based business brokerage and M & A firm with

offices throughout the Northeast. In addition, Carl’s tenure includes several years of successful sales and management experience with major U.S. companies in the financial services and medical products industries.

Carl received an M.B.A. in Marketing, with academic honors, from Russell Sage College, a B.S. in Business Administration from the College of Saint Rose, and an A.A.S. in Banking, Insurance and Real Estate from Hudson Valley Community College.

Laura Hyler
Associate Broker

Laura is an associate broker with Capital Business Advisors. She is a long time resident of the Capital Region. Laura holds a Master’s Degree in Teaching from Sage Graduate School, and has two minors; one in Psychology and another in Cultural Studies. In addition, she has completed substantial Business Administration coursework, supplemented by varied and responsible industry experience.

Laura holds an American Bar Association approved Paralegal Studies Certificate that includes business and real estate concentrations. As part of her studies, Laura also studied grantwriting. Laura is also an adjunct faculty member at Hudson Valley Community College.

David B. Cohen, MBA
Associate Broker
David is a seasoned intermediary with 25+ years of professional experience focusing on successfully negotiating and closing diverse business deals. He possesses professional strengths that include managing, planning, analyzing and negotiating business and commercial real estate transactions. David is a co-owner of CMN Real Estate, a strategic business partner of Capital Business Advisors, Inc. David received an M.B.A. in Finance from Northeastern University and a B.A. in Economics from Franklin & Marshall College.

Allyson Faroni

Marketing Intern
Allyson is responsible for activities including conducting market research, sales prospecting, database & website maintenance, as well as handling a variety of other marketing duties. Allyson is a Junior at the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York. She is pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a Management Concentration.
